The Eagle has landed!!!Dick is back and is doing great. We will be open today starting at 11:00. We can't wait to see everyone.

Friday September 7 was a very hard day. What started off as route testing ended with heart procedure . Dick went in to the University of Iowa for a route dye stress test at 9:00 and was coming out of the procedure around 4:30. In between we learned Dick had a heart attack followed by learning he has a irregular heart beat. They took him to surgery telling me it would be one of two procedures a stint placement or open heart surgery. After two hours I learned his main valve was 95% blocked and a small valve was 50% blocked. They put a stint in the main artery and passed on the other for now. The main concern now is getting the heart beat to become regular. Talk yesterday was putting in a pacemaker but through the night the doctors are trying to control with medications and a life vest he would wear for a couple of weeks for backup help. Dick is not expected to go home until Monday. With that I have decided not to open Her Soup Kitchen this next week. I will be helping Dick start a new routine that he can adjust to. Krista will be focused on the 7 catering jobs we have this week with some assistance from Jason. I felt everyone’s thoughts and prayers through the night and trust me it helped. I will keep everyone posted in the next 48 hours.

We care closing today for a medical emergency. Dick is in the hospital. Will keep everyone informed. Thank you

Great week-end coming up...Fry Fest, first game(GO HAWKS) and Labor Day. Start your weekend off right with a lunch at Her Soup Kitchen and then on to Fry Fest! Also a reminder we will not be open on Monday so stop in on Friday!!

We are unable to open today due to equipment failure. In the process of fixing but won't be able to fix for opening at 11. Thanks for your patience.

Want to remind locals and travelers that tomorrow Friday the 27 is Ragbrai in Iowa City. They will be coming in from the south from Sand Road which turns into Gilbert Street. We have heard rumors that Gilbert Street will be closed to traffic most of the day to 1 lane availability. Wanted to alert everyone to this fact. We will be open from 11-3 as normal. Also there is still a lot of construction going on across the street. Thanks for your loyalty!

Well finally we are setup for Summer...outside seating! Looks as if construction across the street is winding down so out they came today. Stop by and watch all the new happenings in this neighborhood.

Just a reminder Her Soup Kitchen will be closed on Wednesday the 4th of July. Have a happy and safe 4th!

Her Soup Kitchen has decided to close for Memorial Day week. Monday May 28th thru Friday June 1st. Have an enjoyable week.

Well Spring has Sprung today. New Spring menu is in place. Turkey Artichoke, Spring Turkey Salad with asparagus! Proscuitto Press and YES the Market sandwich is back!!! Stop in to get your Spring fix.

Just a reminder for those who have not been in we will be closed next week March 12-16 for Spring Break. We will be changing the menu to SPRING!!! So for the Pear and Brie, Turkey Brie lovers you have 2 more days to get your fill. March 19th we will be back with the Proscuitto Press, Spring Turkey Salad, Turkey Artichoke and the Market will be back. Come on in and enjoy Spring our way.
